Too Much Summer

Hi,

Six weeks off school (or more for some). No timetable, no pickups, no five quiet hours to think in. Work does not stop because the children are home. You are cooking more, refereeing more, saying yes more, and somewhere in there you are meant to be having a lovely relaxing summer. It is not a rest. It is a juggle.

FIRE WANTS MORE

In the five element work I teach, summer is Fire. Expansion. The yes element. More light, more people, more plans, more life. Glorious, when it works.

But Fire has a temper. Too much wine because everyone else is having one. Too many late nights because the sky won’t go dark. Too much sugar, too many yeses, too much noise. Fire that never gets banked just burns through everything near it. Including you.

ONE SEASON FEEDS THE NEXT

Nothing in this work happens on its own. Fire feeds Earth. Burn too hot now and you land in September running on nothing, right when you need Earth (the grounding, the routine, the getting-everyone-back-to-school energy) to catch you. We like to think we live outside nature’s rhythm. We do not. We are just better at ignoring it until we crash.

Enjoy the fire. Just do not let it run the whole show.

RED ON THE PLATE

Summer’s colour is red, fire’s colour: tomatoes, watermelon, raspberries, chillies. Eating with the season is just common sense in nicer clothes.

Otherwise, keep it plainer than you think you need to. A bowl of whatever is ripe, good oil, a squeeze of lemon. You do not need a recipe for a plate of sliced tomatoes and good salt.

THE GROUNDING CORD

Self-care is not the candle and the bath, though take them if you want them. It is the boring stuff: water before coffee, ten minutes outside with nobody talking to you, one pocket of quiet you protect like it is the last one going. Because in six weeks it might be. That is your Earth, holding steady under all this Fire.

Enjoy the heat. Just leave yourself something for September.

Always here for questions.

Big kiss, G
